Hello!
My name is Lilian Yi-Hsuan Lin.

Here's a letter for you.

I appreciate you shared the exciting new opening(s) with me, and thank you for being interested in my expertise.

My former CEO once said to me, "For a team to be successful, it has to hire fast." To value your time, I wrote a list of things I'm looking for in my next career move, followed by a few questions for you that would help me understand whether we share common interest. Hiring is a time-consuming process, and I hope by exchanging information upfront we could establish a mutual understanding before we invest time and effort further.

‍Sharing the criteria for my next job that align my personal belief and purposeful life, I hope your team could be the one!

  • A company mission and product vision that I truly believe in; not having to justify the importance or meaning of my work when I call it a day.
  • A place would continue to invest in my professional and personal growth along the way, like the first day I join.
  • An empowered team has a growth mindset, trust & understanding; team members intentionally create psychological safety for constructive feedback, critical questions, candid conversations.
  • An aspiring team leader/mentor who selflessly does everything s/he can to help the team succeed.
  • A work pace that ships often and values craftsmanship in design.
  • A remote-first culture grants me the freedom to travel home for a while and spend quality family time to strike my work-life balance.

Enough about me! I'm turning the table to you — here are 5 questions that would help me decide if I should move forward. I know it's unconventional, so I appreciate it if you choose to lean in. Thank you for your time in advance, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks and Regards,
Lilian
