A woman holding a letter for Mozillians.

Hi Mozilla!
My name is Lilian Yi-Hsuan Lin.

Here's a letter for you.

Since Day 1 surfing the Internet, I have been a happy Firefox user for decades and later became an evangelist for privacy and data protection with my friends and family. In the pre-COVID life, I read on Pocket to catch up with the world on a crowded subway during my 2-hour commute. MDS web doc is my go-to when I feel stuck in tinkering with my websites. A year ago, when I found out about your Taipei office (my home city), it planted a seed in my mind that I want to contribute to your mission and products connecting my value system.

I am a product designer at Heady, a growing mobile consultancy that builds scalable apps for long-term success. I help big and small brands, including Hibbett City Gear, Scotts MiracleGro, and Popviewers, to solve their business challenges from different growth phases. By partnering with product managers, engineers, and product owners, I drive end-to-end research-driven design, work with data to measure performance, and iterate on it. Among all the design processes, research is my favorite part because it enriches my worldview and challenges my thinking.

Previously, I worked at PetTech and EdTech startups, where I participated in how teams rise and fall from the front row seat. Those experiences taught me the three pillars of running a successful company — user, technology, and business. Since then, I have been passionate about finding the intersection in every problem I tackle. Prior to that, I spent two years studying cognitive psychology to understand how people learn and had held a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design.

I am grateful to work with brands where I cultivated my sensitivity to business and developed flexible muscles to lead different design stages. However, I want to serve more than just people with buying power. I have been benefited tremendously from the open Internet and want to give back and catalyze meaningful experiences for everyone on the planet.

Over the past few weeks, I've been reading extensively about Mozilla's past, present, and future, and how the Firefox UX team works (fascinating amount of information you share publicly). I am eager to have a conversation with you to learn more about your visions, challenges, and how I can contribute (such as Product Design Lead- Pocket (Mobile) or Sr. UX designer). I appreciate your time in advance, looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks and Regards,
Lilian

Sharing my secret way of using text-to-speech on Firefox: listen to earning call from the Motley Fool (to probe business challenges from my clients). I see great potentials in text-to-speech engines, especially when audio content has become increasingly popular these days.

Also, I want to give a shout-out to the team that builds the Pocket - Kobo integration  — I am in love with my Kobo because of that.
